He holds a PhD in Media Studies from the University of Amsterdam, and is a former postdoctoral fellow at the Forum for Interregional Studies (EUME) and the Institute for Cultural Inquiry in Berlin.   <\/p>\n<p class=\"font-claude-response-body break-words whitespace-normal leading-[1.7]\">Editor-in-Chief of <a href=\"http:\/\/untoldmag.org\/\">UntoldMag.org <\/a>and co-director of Untold Stories, he also serves as West Asia and North Africa editor for Global Voices. <\/p>\n<p class=\"font-claude-response-body break-words whitespace-normal leading-[1.7]\">He taught Middle Eastern studies, media studies, and political communication at Bard College Berlin, the American University of Beirut, and the University of Balamand.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-claude-response-body break-words whitespace-normal leading-[1.7]\">His media work has focused on human rights, freedom of expression, immigration, social movements, and far-right politics, among other topics. <\/p>\n<p class=\"font-claude-response-body break-words whitespace-normal leading-[1.7]\">His academic work and publications address protest and opposition, especially in the West Asia and North Africa region, the politics of failure and crisis, and the geographies of war and violence.   <\/p>\n","protected":false},"featured_media":843,"template":"","meta":{"_acf_changed":false},"team-category":[121],"acf":[],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/education-monitor.org\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/team\/1473","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/education-monitor.org\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/team"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/education-monitor.org\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/team"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/education-monitor.org\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/843"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/education-monitor.org\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=1473"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"team-category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/education-monitor.org\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/team-category?post=1473"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
